A1 Podcast

“This is one of my favorite podcasts, and I just recently dived into the world of podcasts in 2022. Audio is good, well organized. Additionally, It is very interesting, the conversations go deep and feel fulfilling and educational. I am starting nursing school as a second career this August and got interested in Emergency Nursing because of the mental health aspect but overall variety. This podcast has me so excited to become a nurse. It is such an enriching specialty and this podcast puts it on display.”

Old nurse learns new tricks and tips

“I am having so much fun and learning so much from Kevin‘s podcast. This podcast gives you insight into issues pertinent to emergency nurses that you might not hear anywhere else! Enjoy!”

Great Educational Resource!!

“A true look into the world of emergency nursing, the podcast provides current relatable issues. I am a pre-nursing student. I’ve always heard people complain about nursing theory and the non-clinical side of nursing, then I heard Dr. Lisa Wolf explain the importance of the liberal education for nursing. She connected all the pieces of the puzzle. Thank you for continuing to have her on the show. For anyone who thinks there’s “fluff” courses in nursing education, listen to Dr. Lisa Wolf, her perspectives are phenomenal. The world needs more people like her!”

My Commuter BFF!

“I’m an ER tech turned new grad RN who started my nursing career in EMS/transport and then into the ER right after having my first baby during a pandemic. (It has been a WHIRL. WIND.) I currently commute about an hour not including traffic to and from work and I am SO grateful I found this podcast. 10/10 recommend for new, experienced and soon to be nurses… you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll feel like you’re just listening to your favorite coworker talk about their day! I love listening to the seasoned nurses with years of experience under their belts who are in the roles I hope to be someday and taking notes on what path they took to get there. I feel heard when I listen to the new grads echo so many of the feelings that I have, helping me to not feel so alone. I am so thankful for the nurses who get on here and encourage us baby nurses to keep going and learning and growing. I have recently started studying for my CEN and greatly appreciated the CEN prep episode! Kevin, thank you for all you do to put this together as I imagine it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. But I am so grateful to have educational, inspirational, funny and easy listening to have during my commute! I hope to meet you at an ENA conference in the future! A someday request: I’m still working my way through the episodes so forgive me if you’ve covered these, but I’d love to hear from some Ground/CCT, SANE and Educator nursing professionals 😊”

Sparked the Light Inside Me I Thought I Lost

“This podcast reminds me of why I became a nurse. Working in the ED, I’ve often found myself burnt out and actually wanting to leave the bedside. This podcast reminded me it’s not nursing itself that burns me out, but the dynamics around nursing. This podcast reminds me WHY I am a nurse and specifically an ED nurse. The stories resonate so deeply I find myself near tears at times. Keep up the good work. You always have a listener in me!”

Love this Podcast

“I am so grateful I found this podcast. I listen to this everyday day while I’m at work and I learned so much about nursing in the ED. This podcast gives me an opportunity I wouldn’t otherwise have, which is to listen to nurses and the beautiful jobs they do. Also, it gives me information of what nurses struggle with and how to avoid/overcome those struggles. Thank you Kevin for your podcast and for the opportunity to listen to great nurses talk.”

Thank you!

“As an emergency nurse from Australia, I just wanted to say thank you for your latest episode. We have been very lucky to not experience covid like the rest of the world and it was really moving to hear what it is actually like / what it could become. I would love to hear more about it and how you are all handling the stress because I know all of the nurses in my emergency department have felt like we would have no idea how we would deal with it if we started to have the numbers like the rest of the world. Thank you! Sending love from Sydney Australia - Lizzie.”

Amazing

“I am a relatively new nurse, working in a level one trauma center ICU. I was recommended this podcast from a family member who is a new grad ER nurse. Even though I don’t work in the ER, I resonate SO much with the stories that are shared here -it’s been extremely therapeutic the last few months as I have traversed the pandemic. Thanks for the work you put into making this available! Keep it up!”

My new grad companion

“If you’re thinking about listening, just do yourself a favor and start now! As a soon to be emergency GN and current ED tech, this podcast has given me perspective . I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, and I’ve sat and reflected over some of the things that were said that all students, nurses, and even other healthcare professionals need to hear. Kevin and his guests are always there for me before or after a shift - no matter what I was feeling or the outcome of the day. Thank you for being there for us as well as bringing awareness to difficult topics like human trafficking, bullying, and burnout.”

I want to be Lisa Wolf when I grow up.

“I love listening to this podcast. In every episode, there is something I can relate to or add to my personal philosophy. My favorite episodes include Lisa Wolfe. I would listen to her research findings every single day if I could. Please add a monthly Lisa episode!”

Appreciate this podcast endlessly!

“As a new grad RN that got hired in the ED right out of school, this podcast has been so incredibly helpful and inspiring. The host (Kevin) does such a great job showcasing the wisdom of his guests. More than once he asks the exact question that pops into my head as I listen to their stories. It’s been a strange time to start a career in healthcare, and my new grad orientation has me scheduled with not just one seven different preceptors- therefore I fear that the deep nuggets of wisdom that a senior nurse might have to offer me may be passed on to another new hire.. I’m grateful for this podcast because it gives me the chance to learn things from brilliant and accomplished nurses that I may not have otherwise been exposed to. More than once, I’ve heard mantras from these episodes echo in my head as I mentally prepare to do something new to me... “Trust, but verify” There was a group from my graduating class hired in my small-ish local hospital, and I’ve recommended this podcast to all of them, because it truly has been so impactful and helpful to me navigating this new chapter of my life. I do have one request/recommendation though, and apologize if you have already done this episode and I missed it- I’m still working through your catalogue.. but it would be awesome if you did an interview with a new graduate, or new ED nurse. Not because I think their clinical wisdom is likely to compare to some of the healthcare superheroes you have hosted, but I believe the perspective of the new hire would be great to hear. Knowing the fears/ accomplishments/ successes/ failures of someone who is say, less than 6 months into the game could be pretty interesting. Can’t thank you enough for what you’ve created here, be well :D”

Awesome!

“Great podcast for ER nurses, nurses that want to understand why ER nurses are the way they are, or anyone who wants to see the humanity behind the ER nurses that are often misunderstood.”

I love this podcast!!

“I’m currently a nursing student and hope to become a ED nurse, and eventually work in a level 1 trauma center or as a rapid response nurse. I’ve had some really amazing clinical experiences that have really solidified these goals. I really enjoy listening to the thoughts and comments that your guests offer. I’m on break from school from COVID-19 and self isolating, binging your episodes! Please keep up the amazing work, and if you ever have the chance to bring in a rapid response nurse, I would love to hear about their experience and advice. I know it will be a long time before I get there, but I’m convinced! Thanks again for such a great podcast!”

New Grad in the ED

“I love this podcast! I drive an hour and fifteen mins one way to work (Gotta love rural MT), so I needed something that would help me with the new grad stress and the long drive and this podcast does this and more! I recommend this podcast to all new grad especially the one starting the ED, as it has helped me tons! So grateful for everyone who shares their stories!”

AMAZING!!!

“I am personally not a nurse but have a lot of nurses and healthcare workers in my life. I’m always so intrigued when I hear the stories and what they do in the ER! This podcast has opened my eyes to Emergency Nursing and all the hard work that nurses put in. I look forward to each new episode. Keep up the good work!!”

Reassuring

“This show is just a constant reminder of why we do what we do...and makes me not feel so bad for feeling the way I feel sometimes. As ER nurses we are a different breed but still so much alike. It’s refreshing to hear how we all question ourselves at some point about the same things and then at times we’ve all had those same experiences that changed us.”

AlwaysERNurse via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/22/19

Great for everyone in healthcare

“I really love this podcast, the questions are thought-provoking, and it’s helped me reflect on my own practice over the years. I enjoy listening to it even after very busy and draining shifts. I would love to have more in-person interviews, the audio on the calls is sometimes hard to hear. I look forward to more episodes.”

A “Must Listen” for ER Practitioners

“This has become a go-to for me during long commutes. The fireside chat-style makes you feel like you're sitting around with the ER Folk telling stories. The bonus to that is there are some awesome take aways and helps ground us all in the life-changing impact we make every day without thinking about it! Edutainment at its finest!”

TbabsRN via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/19/19

A new perspective on ED nursing

“It’s a great podcast that comes at ED nursing from a different direction. I have a library full of clinically-focused podcasts on emergency medicine and nursing, and not one gets to the heart of why we do what we do like AOEN. I laughed and I teared up. Listening to this podcast is a great way to reignite that flame if it’s burning low or has gone out. 10/10 recommend!”

Nursetico via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/16/19

Amazing!!

“These podcasts are amazing! I listen to them every time I’m in the car on my way to school. I love listening to the stories of nurses because it gives me insight to what I will look forward to when I become a nurse. I have hope that I will become a nurse one day even though it is so hard to get into nursing school with where I live. I would love to hear some stories of people who have struggled with waiting for their ticket to get into nursing school with the lottery system! Anyways I love this and look forward to new ones each week!”

taybung via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/05/19
